Ticket Deadline Countdown – 2 Days To Go
We're making Line-up announcements each day on the blog to get you excited for Greenbelt 2010 and remind you of the ticket deadline on Friday!
Today's is a biggy. Last year's Grand Ball was a huge hit, with hundreds of Greenbelters putting on their best dinner jackets and ballgowns, accessorising them with Festival wellies, and dancing to The Apples.
This year, we're going for a Rockabilly vibe - the spirit of the 1950s kept alive with more hair-grease, spotty dresses and Bolo ties than you can shake a slap bass at.
And when it came to a band to soundtrack a glamorous end to a brilliant Festival, we went for the very best: The Dodge Brothers.
The Dodge Brothers are Mike Hammond, Aly Hirji, Alex Hammond, and... some other bloke. It's Wittertainment's finest real doctor, Dr. Mark Kermode! They play a mixture of skiffle, rockabilly and country, built around the rhythmic thrum of a washboard and Kermode's slap-bass thumpery.
Here's a clip of them playing live on Simon Mayo's radio show from Cropredy...
Alongside the Brothers*, the Grand Rockabilly Ball will feature plenty of music to tap your toe and swing your partner to, and it would be brilliant if we could get everyone dressing appropriately. There are online guides to Rockabilly fashion for men and women, Rockabilly hairstyles for men and women, lists of the 100 Greatest Rockabilly Songs for you to do some preparative research, and Rockabilly Radio to get you in the mood.
And what if you don't know how to jive? There will be dance lessons all weekend to allow even the most club-footed Festivalgoer to dazzle.
We aren't saying you'll end up as amazing as these guys, but everybody has to start somewhere...!
More line-up announcements tomorrow. Buy your tickets!

* I don't think they're actual brothers.
