Musical Bridge – Classical Concert for Burma – 15 May

Following his talk last year about the situation in Burma, Zaw Lu Aung got in touch to let us know about a concert that he is organising.

"Musical Bridge" is an evening of classical music inspired by Burma. Some of the pieces are composed by Burmese composers, or are based on Burmese music, and these shall be showcased alongside other venerable classical pieces.

Performers include Ruth Rogers, Consortium 5, Ei Ei Khaing, Jenny Brittlebank, Carlos Guerrero Bullejos and the Gita Paungu String Quartet. The concert features music composed by Shwe Pya Aye, J.S. Bach, Tim Benjamin, Frederic Chopin, Sandayar Hla Htut, A1 Soe Myint, Myo Ma Nyein, Brian Inglis, Roxanna Panufnik, Alan Ridout and Christopher Scobie.

It's happening at Christ Church in Spitalfields on Saturday 15th May, and starts at 7pm. Tickets are £9 (concessions £7), and all proceeds go to Link Emergency Aid & Development of Burma.

For tickets, email Musical Bridge or phone 07780 995249.
