Culture vultures

g08-as-010

We were thinking in the office about what we could regularly post that would be of interest to the average Festivalgoer, and having dismissed letting you know about our diets and what we most recently dreamed about, we settled on posting about cultural events we've been attending.

Each week at least one person in the week does something exciting, so this feels like a pretty good idea.

This week:

I (phil) and Nive went to see Kings of Leon at O2

Beki went to see Edward Scissorhands at Sadlers Wells

Rachel has gone to Argentina to practice her Tango (and see some pals)…

And Karen, well Karen has been to Cheltenham, to try and suss out how we can make better use of the Racecourse, but more of that next week…

Volunteer Development Team

Yesterday was volunteer development team (or VDT to those in the know)… a monthly gathering of staff and a few representative volunteers where we talk about how we can develop our volunteer community. 1,600 people volunteer for Greenbelt and without these people we'd be scuppered. That being said we're pretty keen to look after our volunteer. On this month's agenda: food, showers, training and our new and improved database.

La Clique

For this year's Christmas party Greenbelt staff (of which there are currently nine) all went to see La Clique at the Hippodrome, and my how we laughed!

The show is a mixture of circus sideshow and cabaret. If I say it features singing, gymnasts, hulahoops and juggling it sounds a bit dull; in reality it is anything but.

Tickets start at £15, the show runs until April.

World AIDS day… the need for people to lead!

Today marks the 20th World AIDS day when people all over the world will be raising awareness of HIV and AIDS, and showing their solidarity with people living with the virus.

The theme this year is “Lead – Empower – Deliver” and Christian Aid, one of Greenbelt's main partners, is calling for faith leaders around the world to stand at the forefront of the fight against HIV.
