Random Acts of Kindness presented by Them Two Dance

Them Two Dance embark on a journey astride their tandem bicycle to encourage you festival folk to perform more Random Acts of Kindness. In this series of interactive pop-up duets, they ask you to be kind, to be generous and to help them out if they get a puncture!

Talkshop: Join Them Two Dance for a chat and cup of tea at each festival, tell them about the random acts of kindness you’d like to see in your community and they will do their best to make them happen.

Pop-up performances: Look out for the tandem bicycle for a chance to experience the #RandomTandem.

This outdoor pop-up performance has cycled to Grassington Arts Festival, Holmfirth Arts Festival, Leeds Waterfront Festival, Hebden Bridge Arts Festival, Mayors Parade Barnsley, Harrogate Festival and First Fridays at Lancaster Arts.

This work was co-commissioned by Yorkshire Dance Amplified, The Civic Barnsley and Yorkshire Festival with a commitment to working and developing audiences for outdoor work in Yorkshire and the North of England.

Them Two Dance (aka Katherine and Connor) have been dancing, creating and performing together since 2012. They are passionate about creating innovative dance work for the outdoors and unusual spaces that encourage non-dance audiences to engage with high-quality work in their everyday lives.

Them Two Dance met during Dance Channels, a project initiated by three outdoor festivals, Urban Moves (Manchester), Trayectos (Spain) and Corpi Urbani (Italy), where they worked with choreographer Marta Bevilacqua and created Oltre la luna.

After initial performances at the partner festivals, they then toured the work to Visceos Urbanas (Brazil) and to several festivals in Italy. Due to the success of Oltre la luna Katherine and Connor decided to continue working together as Them Two Dance and created Shiny Shorts in 2014 which toured across the UK.

Between them Katherine and Connor have performed internationally for choreographers including Simone Forti, State of Emergency, Jasmin Vardimon Company and Gary Clarke.

They are both experienced educators delivering workshops in contemporary, ballet and creative movement extensively across the UK for various organisations including Trinity Laban, the Lowry and the Royal Ballet School.
