Liz Chapman was born in London in the seventies, but was culturally 'born-again' in 1989 when she escaped north to Manchester. That same year she also stumbled upon a field full of marquees and stages in Northamptonshire that it appeared God used as a playground every August Bank Holiday. She spends her days designing environmental improvement schemes that clean up rivers and coastal waters (she dreads people at dinner parties asking exactly what that means).
Martin Finey is a Counter Terrorist Police Officer at the UK's premier airport. He prides himself on being the pink and fluffy face of the Metropolitan Police Service, having worked at the Festival a year longer than he has worked for The Job. He first stewarded on Night Security at Castle Ashby in 1983 before going on to lead the Night Security team for many years.
Martin Short is a vicar in the Manchester diocese looking after Turton Parish somewhere 'up int'ills' North of Bolton. He supports Macclesfield town football club (but we won't hold that against him - some one has to!). He is goal keeper for Bolton Hockey club, enjoys skiing, walking and puts up with the gym because he also likes real ale. Martin first attended as a Greenbelter at Odel and first stewarded on Backstage Security at Knebworth in 1982 before going on to run Backstage Stewarding for many years. On the move to Cheltenham he became a member of the Ops Management Team. His main area of work for Greenbelt is stewards, pastoral care, and the ministry of tea and sweeties.
Nicola Hambridge first came to Greenbelt in 1989 with her church youth group and a very brave Minister who she will forever be indebted to. ("Mum can I go to a rock festival....?") She has only missed one year since, returning from Australia especially for GB02. In 1999 she responded to an email request for volunteers who could count or drive - as a result of this she became part of the on-site finance team until 2004. In November 2007 she was appointed as one of the Festival's Operations Managers, with particular responsibility for the emergency services teams. She lives on the outskirts of Leeds/Bradford, where she is a part-time General Practitioner.
Jo Beecroft is Scottish by birth, but has been in England longer than Scotland and now lives at the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales. She is a Police Officer covering the multi-cultural area of Bradford, which is a challenging role and takes her into many different faith, cultural and religious settings. She has been stewarding at Greenbelt for nearly twenty years and has done various roles, including day security (that was), latterly ending up in charge of the Greenbelt Control room. In her spare time, Jo loves reading, doing a bit of walking and travelling around this world that seems to be becoming smaller.
Stuart Radcliffe first attended Greenbelt in 1984 and has been drawn further in by its pull ever since. He started to steward at the festival in 1988 working on what was then the traffic team. In recent years Stuart has gone on to manage the site stewarding team and been responsible for planning and implementing the traffic management plan. He is also a member of Greenbelts Volunteer Development Group which helps to develop Greenbelts volunteering policy and package and looks to raise the profile and recruitment of volunteers at the festival. Married to Karen (who manages the Greenbelt Control Room) they have 3 children and live in Stockport where Stuart is the minister of 2 United Reformed Churches.
Geoff Stickler has had many roles at Greenbelt since his first year in 1980. He has worked as a steward in the theatre, performed on the fringe, managed the arts workshop venue, sat on the planning group and run the health and safety team. Since '80 he has only missed 1 year! He has just joined the Operations Management team to make use of this varied experience. When not at Greenbelt he is a Health and Safety Manager for a contractor working on London Underground and other rail projects around London.
