New and newsworthy
I remember a few years in the late noughties when, although we kept coming to Greenbelt each August, our family didn’t actually go to any programming. For reasons which are for another blog, we’d had a few too many children too close together and, in short, we were held captive in the campsite by four, puppy-like boys who wouldn’t let us do what we wanted to do anymore.
There’s a showing of the documentary Greenbelt at 40 in Kings Heath in March, followed by a Q&A with the film’s director Pip Piper.
As we open our Box Office for Greenbelt 2014: Travelling Light, we’re excited to be at the beginning of a new adventure in the life of the festival. Such a lot has changed since Greenbelt last took place on a greenfield site (at Deene Park way back in 1998). Events technology has moved on immeasurably over that time. And, besides those welcome advances, we are now well and truly a nation of festivalgoers!
Greenbelt is ...
Engaged with culture, inspired by the arts, sustained by faith, we aspire to be an open, generous community.
“Greenbelt ranks alongside Glastonbury as my favourite festival gig of the summer.”
— Mark Thomas
