For the past 10 years Miri Weingarten has worked for Physicians for Human Rights-Israel, an organisation struggling for the health rights of all people under its control. These people include Palestinians in the OPT, migrants, refugees and asylum seekers in Israel, prisoners and detainees, and marginalized Israeli communities, including the Bedouin in the unrecognized villages in the Negev desert. Most recently she was director of its department for health rights in the Occupied Palestinian Territory. She is currently engaged in lobby of the EU in Brussels on behalf of three leading Israeli human rights organisations, aiming to promote accountability of Israel for its violations of human rights in the OPT.
